Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
The geomagnetic field reached major storm levels 20/0900 UTC due to the arrival of the 18 Sep CME. Minor strom levels were observed from 20/0900-1800 followed by unsettled levels for the remainder of the day in transition from CME effects to CH HSS effects.
