Bulletin

Quiet solar conditions were observed with the X ray flux remaining below C level. The occassional B flares were produced by Catania group 54 (NOAA 2529) as it rotated over the West limb. The other two regions are unremarkable and appear inactive. Quiet solar conditions are expected to continue over the next days. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in coronagraph data. Solar wind conditions were nominal but slightly increasing. Solar wind speed reached 450 km/s and total magnetic field strength was in the 5-9.5nT range. Bz was variable but mostly positive while the magnetic field phi angle remained in the positive sector. Solar wind conditions are expected to by April 23 become slightly increased due to the influence of the positive polarity trans-equatorial coronal hole. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (NOAA Kp 0-2, local K Dourbes 0-3). Periods of active conditions are possible by April 23 due to the coronal hole high speed stream influence.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 026, based on 23 stations.
