Solar activity remains low, with no C-class flares reported during last 24 hours. The strongest reported flare was B7.5 flare, peaking at 00:01 UT, on May 04. The flare originated from the active region situated at that moment just behind the east solar limb. There are currently four numbered sunspot groups visible on the solar disc, all having simple (alpha and beta) configuration of their photospheric magnetic field. The occasional C-class flares are still possible in the following 24 hours (probability is about 30 percent). No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.
The solar wind speed has decreased and currently amounts about 450 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude remained stable having the value of 3 nT. The fast solar wind, associated with the small equatorial coronal hole which reached central meridian yesterday morning, might be expected at the Earth on May 06. The geomagnetic conditions are quiet and we expect them to remain so in the coming hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 072, based on 20 stations.
