Solar activity was very quiet with 2 B flares from NOAA region 2579. The largest was of magnitude B6.6 peaking at 7:02UT. The region that emerged yesterday was numbered NOAA 2581 and shows further slight overall growth. None of the regions on disk has a particularly complicated structure and X-ray flux is expected to continue to lie below C level, although occurrence of a C flare can not be excluded. Solar proton flux levels were at background values and expected to remain so. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed.
Solar wind showed the decline of the coronal hole high speed stream influence, with solar speed decreasing from 550km/s to around 450 km/s. Total magnetic field was in the 5-7nT range with Bz variable with a maximal southward deflection of around -6nT. A further normalization to nominal solar wind conditions is expected.
Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (local K Dourbes 1-3, NOAA Kp 2-3). Over the next 48 hours quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected with unsettled periods possible.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 048, based on 23 stations.
