Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been very low. No significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. Quiet flaring conditions are expected to continue. The solar wind speed has increased from around 330 to 380 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated around 5 nT, but increased to around 10 nT this morning. The Bz component fluctuated around -2 nT, ranging between -5 and +5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-2 (NOAA) and local K index 0-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. There is currently a small positive polarity Northern polar coronal hole in the Western hemisphere which may be the cause of the increasing solar wind speed experienced. However, only a small enhancement is expected. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 17 stations.
