Solar activity was at very low levels during the period. Low-level B-class flaring was observed from NOAA 2645 (B4.9) from behind the west limb, and from a new, but small sunspot region at the east limb (B3.6). No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.
Quiet flaring conditions are expected, with a chance on an isolated C-class flare.
Earth was under the influence of coronal hole wind streams. Solar wind speed reached a maximum near 630 km/s around 15:45UT, before starting a gradual decline to end the period near values of 460 km/s. Bz fluctuated between -6 and +6 nT, being mostly negative after 20UT. The interplanetary magnetic field was initially directed towards the Sun, but changed to a mostly away direction after 22:30UT.
The geomagnetic field was at quiet to active levels, with a minor storming episode (Kp=5) during the 03-06UT interval. Local geomagnetic data were missing for the period, but Potsdam reported mostly active conditions. The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to active levels, with a chance on another minor storming episode.
