Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been low. No significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in coronagraph observations. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with a small probability of C-class flares. The solar wind speed has been fluctuating between 370 and 340 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated between 4 nT and 8.5 nT. The Bz component was largely positive but turned negative, and remained negative, throughout the morning, varying between -4 nT and 2 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-3 (NOAA) and local K index 1-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Due to the negative Bz this morning the K/Kp has remained at 3, and with increased solar wind speeds may create active conditions. Over the next 24 hours Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 022, based on 10 stations.
