Bulletin

There were no C-class, and even B-class flares, reported in the last 24 hours. We expect that the solar activity will remain at this low level, and we do not expect C-class flares in the coming hours, while isolated B-class flares are still possible but not very probable. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed and the solar protons remained at background level in the past 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is presently about 360 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude (IMF) is 6nT. Due to the crossing of the sector boundary, simultaneously with the sudden change of the phi angle, the IMF increased to the value of 8nT (at about 16:00 UT on May 09). This slightly elevated value of IMF was maintained until shortly before 24:00 UT when it dropped back to the value of about 5nT, again with the sudden change of the phi angle. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet to unsettled and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 26 stations.
