Solar activity was at very low levels. Active region NOAA 2689 rotated over the NW limb and left the solar disk spotless. The region produced a B1 flare at 14:10UT. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.
Quiet flaring conditions are expected.
Solar wind speed decreased from initial values near 460 km/s to values around 410 km/s by the end of the period. Bz varied between +5 nT and -5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed towards the Sun. The extension of a positive northern polar CH is transiting the central meridian.
The geomagnetic activity was at unsettled to quiet levels. Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected to continue until the arrival of the high speed stream from the northern polar coronal hole (CH) extension and its associated preceding co-rotating interaction region. Based on observations from the previous solar rotation and from STEREO-A, the earth environment may be affected starting late on 03 December or on 04 December, with minor to moderate geomagnetic storming possible.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 05 stations.
