The Sun is spotless and produced no flares in the past 24 hours. The chance for a C flare in the next 24 hours is estimated at only 1%.
No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours.
Solar wind speed as registered by DSCOVR varied between about 530 and 650 km/s, with current values around 560 km/s. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly oriented towards the Sun and its magnitude varied between about 3 and 10 nT, with current values around 4 nT. Bz was below -5 nT between about 14h and 16h UT on July 24. Continued influence from the high speed stream associated with a negative polarity equatorial coronal hole is expected on July 25, with a return to nominal solar wind levels on July 26 and 27.
Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes between 2 and 3; NOAA Kp between 2 and 4) were registered in the past 24 hours. Active geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes = 4) are possible on July 25 due to the continued influence of the high speed stream from a negative polarity equatorial coronal hole, with a slight chance for minor storm intervals (K Dourbes = 5). A return to quiet to unsettled conditions (K Dourbes < 4) is expected on July 26 and 27.
