Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless and will most likely remain so. A small active region is rotating over the east limb (SDO/AIA). No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Solar wind speed varied between 420 and 380 km/s (ACE). Bz varied between -4 and + 3 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was mostly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels (both Kp and K Dourbes).

Geomagnetic activity is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels. The earth environment is expected to become affected by the wind stream from the negative polarity coronal hole later today or tomorrow, increasing the possibility on an active episode.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 06 stations.
