Bulletin

During last 24 hours, solar flaring activity remained to be very low, without any flares reported. We expect such a low level of flaring activity to persist in the coming hours. A faint CMEs was observed by SOHO/LASCO C2 at about 22:00 UT on January 18, rising above the east solar limb observed. The source region of the eruption is presently unclear, but from the coronagraph observations it seems that the CME is not Earth- directed. During last 24 hours the solar proton flux remained at the background level.

The solar wind speed is fluctuating between 320 and 340 km/s during last 48 hours, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 3 nT. The solar wind originating from the patchy coronal hole that reached central meridian in the morning of January 16 might be expected at the Earth in the second half of the January 20. Presently geomagnetic conditions are quiet and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
