Solar activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
The solar wind speed ranged between 330 to 380 km/s (ACE). The total magnetic field fluctuated between 2 and 7 nT. Bz varied between -6 and +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed towards the Sun (negative sector).
Geomagnetic activity was quiet to unsettled, with the Kp index (NOAA) and the local k index (Dourbes) recording values of between 0 and 3. Mostly quiet conditions are expected on Jan 23-25, with possible isolated unsettled periods on Jan 23.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 13 stations.
