Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. There is a magnetically simple sunspot group at N04E25 on the solar disk that emerged on Jan 24 (NOAA Active Region 2757). No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

The solar wind speed ranged between 280 and 340 km/s (ACE). The total magnetic field remained stable with values around 4 nT. Bz varied between -4 and +4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector), with some short deviations into the negative sector.

Geomagnetic activity was quiet, with the Kp index (NOAA) and the local k index (Dourbes) recording values of between 0 and 2. Quiet conditions are expected on Jan 25-27.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 05 stations.
