Bulletin

The solar activity was at very low levels over the past 24 hours. No significant X-ray flares were observed. Catania sunspot group 28 (NOAA Active Region 2757) has rotated towards the west limb and remained inactive. The solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels in the next 24 hours with quiet flaring conditions.

No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections have been observed in the available coronagraph imagery. The greater than 10 MeV solar proton flux was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so. In the past 24 hours the solar wind speed remained slightly enhanced under the influence of a negative polarity coronal hole and varied from around 400 to 540 km/s. The total magnetic field strength varied weakly within the range of 1-5 nT with sustained period of average value of about 4 nT. The north-south Bz component has weakened over the past 24 hours with values in the range -3 nT to 3 nT. It was mostly positive with several sustained periods in the negative sector. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain enhanced over the next 24 hours.

Geomagnetic activity has been predominantly quiet with NOAA Kp equal to 1. The K Dourbes index was predominantly quiet (with a value below 3) with isolated unsettled periods. Over the next 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 010, based on 07 stations.
