Solar X-ray flux remained below B level. Active Regions (ARs) 2760 and 2761 decayed and not shown any significant flaring activity. Another small bipolar region with an associated sunspot, located around N22W38 has also emerged on Apr 29. Solar flaring activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was between nominal and moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to be at nominal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.
The solar wind speed near Earth decreased from around 430 km/s to 350 km/s and the total magnetic field varied between 1 and 6 nT (DSCOVR) over the past 24 hours. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly oriented towards the Sun (phi angle in the negative sector), with an extended deviation into the positive sector between 12 and 18 UT on Apr 28. Bz was mostly negative, with a minimum value of around -3 nT. Nominal solar wind conditions are expected for Apr 29 - May 01. The filament eruption observed on April 27 that possibly had an Earth directed component may be seen at Earth on May 02.
Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp recorded values between 0-2). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for Apr 29 - May 01 with isolated unsettled episodes possible due the patchy positive coronal hole that began to traverse the central meridian on Apr 26.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 024, based on 15 stations.
