Solar activity was at very low levels and is expected to remain so. Sunspot region NOAA 2766 decayed, but two small sunspot regions started to develop in the northeast quadrant overnight. Catania 35 is located near the solar equator (N03E15) and has almost decayed, whereas Catania 36 is near N19E25 and the largest of the two (McIntosh: Bxo).
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux and the greater than 2 MeV electron flux were at nominal levels during the last 24 hours and are expected to remain so.
No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.
Around 21UT, solar wind speed started a gradual decline from about 510 km/s to end the period near 430 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -3 and +3 nT. The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector).
Geomagnetic activity was at mostly quiet levels, with an unsettled interval (06-09UT) recorded at Dourbes. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be mostly quiet, with a chance on an isolated unsettled interval.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 22 stations.
