Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. A B1.6 flare recorded at Aug 21 (01:58UT, S31E52) was followed by a coronal dimming, visible in SDO/AIA data. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so over the next 24 hours.

The speed of the solar wind varied between 310 and 365 km/s (DSCOVR). The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominatly towards the Sun (phi angle in the negative sector) until Aug 21 22:00UT, while varying since then. Bz fluctuated between -6 and +7 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 1 and 8 nT. The extension of the Northern coronal hole is crossing central meridian. Over the next 24 hours, the solar wind parameters are expected to be slightly influenced from the remaining HSS of the coronal hole crossing central meridian Aug 19.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. The values registered for the past 24 hours were 0-3 for K Dourbes and 1-2 for NOAA Kp. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 24 stations.
