Bulletin

Solar X-ray flux has been below background (B) level throughout the period. There are no spotted regions on disc and X-ray flux is expected to remain at or below background (B) values.

There were no Earth directed coronal mass ejections observed in coronagraph data.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours. A gradual increase is expected over the next days related to ongoing elevated Solar wind conditions.

Solar wind speed was in the 400-450 km/s range until around 16UT when a gradual increase set in to currently above 500 km/s. A peak of 535 km/s was reached during the period. The total magnetic field peaked at 10.5 nT around 16UT and gradually decreased to under 5nT currently. The Bz component reached a maximum southward value of -8.6 nT. The magnetic field phi angle was predominantly in the away sector (+) . The moderately high speed stream conditions are expected to last over the next 24-48 hours with further increases possible due to a number of positive polarity coronal holes.

Geomagnetic conditions saw an episode of active conditions (K Dourbes 4) reaching minor geomagnetic storm levels globally (NOAA Kp 5) at the onset of the Solar wind enhancements and remained unsettled to active. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to remain unsettled with active periods over the next 48 hours and isolated geomagnetic storm periods possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 15 stations.
