Bulletin

There are two numbered sunspot groups presently observed on the visible side of the solar disc, Catania sunspot group 2 and 6 (NOAA AR 2829 and 2832, respectively). Both of these regions have beta configuration of their photospheric magnetic field and could possibly be the source of flaring activity in the coming hours. During last 24 hours several B-class and one C-class flares were observed and we expect such a level of flaring activity to continue in the coming hours. There were two wide CMEs, of up to 100 degrees angular width, observed during last 24 hours (yesterday evening and this morning). The source region of both CMEs was behind the limb (for the first one behind the West solar limb, and for the second CME behind the East solar limb) therefore these CMEs are not expected to arrive to Earth. During last 24 hours the proton flux levels remained at background values.

The greater than 2MeV electron flux is bellow the 1000 pfu threshold, and we expect it will remain so during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence is already for several days at normal levels and we expect it will stay so in the coming 24 hours.

Earth is presently inside the slow solar wind with velocity of about 340 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 2 nT. During the last 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions were at the quiet to unsettled level and we expect they will stay so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 027, based on 26 stations.
