Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours. Catania region 7 (NOAA AR 12833) is rotating on the western solar hemisphere. Two active regions (NOAA AR 12830 and NOAA AR 12831) are about to rotate on the visible disk. The solar activity is expected to remain at low levels over the next 24 hours.
No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained above the 1000 pfu alert threshold, were it is expected to remain during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to remain at those levels over the next 24 hours.
The solar wind speed slightly decreased from 432 to 345 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength fluctuated between 3 and 6 nT. The values of the Bz component varied between -4 and +3 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was predominantly on the negative sector (directed towards the Sun). Any effects from the high speed stream from the extention of the northern negative polarity Coronal Hole (CH) or the southern positive CH could be expected, but possibly not in the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions were at quiet to unsettled levels (NOAA Kp 0-3) over the past 24 hours. Quiet conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 013, based on 15 stations.
