The solar activity was slightly more active with several C-class flares recorded over the last 24 hours. A C7.0-class flare was observed on March 22 around 13:00 UTC from a sunspot regions close to the East limb, and other C-class flares were recorded from a new region NOAA-AR 2974. For the next 24 hours, further C-class flares are expected.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) has been detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the last 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to be close to the threshold in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence was moderate levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to be at between nominal and moderate levels in the next 24 hours.
The solar wind parameters in Earth environment (as recorded by DSCOVR) showed a solar wind speed regime close to ambient background levels. The solar wind speed fluctuated around 400 km/s, the interplanetary magnetic field was ranging from 2.7 nT to 8.8 nT, and its southward Bz-component was fluctuating between -8 nT and 8 nT. The solar wind parameters are expected to remain close to nominal values for the flowing day.
The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled levels (K-BEL and NOAA- Kp recorded values of 1-3). Geomagnetic conditions are expected to remain mostly quiet to unsettled levels.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 048, based on 22 stations.
