Bulletin

Solar activity was low with only one C flare, a C2.3 flare from NOAA active region 3030 in the north-east, peaking early in the period (14:32 UT). Afterwards X-ray flux remained below C level. NOAA active region 3029 has almost vanished while NOAA active region 3030 remained largely stable. A new small bipolar region emerged near S38E45. C class flaring may be expected with still a chance for an isolated M flare.

No Earth directed CMEs have been recorded in coronagraph data.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels and is expected to remain so. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold. The 24h electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to be at low to normal levels.

Slow solar wind conditions were recorded with solar wind speed in the 300-330 km/s range. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude dropped from around 7nT to mostly under 5nT with a variable north-south component. The phi angle alternated between showing connection with a negative sector (field towards the Sun) and with a positive sector (field away from the Sun). Slow solar wind conditions are expected over the next days.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (both NOAA Kp and local K Belgium 0-3). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next days.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 042, based on 17 stations.
