Happy birthday to ourselves! SpaceWeatherLive.com celebrates its 10th birthday today! On 15 September 2008, we registered the URL www.spaceweatherlive.com and SpaceWeatherLive was born.
The concept that SpaceWeatherLive is based on is the Dutch version of SpaceWeatherLive called Poollicht.be. About 12 years ago we started to make Poollicht.be available in more languages than just Dutch and right now we are already at 10 available languages! This means we had to came up with an internationally catchy name. That name is SpaceWeatherLive. Our website was at the time very small of course but over the years we continued to add new and unique features in a future proof package. More and more people started to visit SpaceWeatherLive and your engagement helped us to survive for all this time and motivate us to keep doing what we do best. Bring you the most complete space weather related website available.
So, in the 10 years that SpaceWeatherLive existed what do you think is the most common question that we receive? If you thought ''can I see aurora tonight?'' than you are correct but there is another question we receive a lot and we always had to give this same answer... no. But not anymore. The question that we from today on answer with a yes is... Do you have an app? YES WE DO! We now have an app that is available on iOS and Android!
Our app brings you the familiar SpaceWeatherLive experience in an easy to use app. The app has an integrated push notifications service that will notify you on the fly if a coronal hole faces our planet, a solar flare erupted or if we are in the middle of a geomagnetic storm. We also introduce an app exclusive dark theme which will preserve your night vision when you are aurora chasing out in the field! The app is also free to use for anybody, there are no (hidden) costs!
Down below you will find our little sale pitch that you will also be able to find in the Google Play Store and the Apple Store when you are going to download the app:
