Solar activity report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

Joint USAF/NOAA Report of Solar and Geophysical Activity

SDF Number 178 Issued at 2200Z on 27 Jun 2010

IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 26-2100Z to 27-2100Z

Solar activity has been very low. New Region 1084 (S19E59) was numbered today and produced a B1 x-ray event at 27/0317. No other activity of note was observed.
IB. Solar Activity Forecast
Solar activity is expected to be very low.
IIA. Geophysical Activity Summary 26-2100Z to 27-2100Z
The geomagnetic field has been quiet to unsettled, with an isolated active period at 27/0600-0900Z. Solar wind data observed at the ACE spacecraft indicates the continuation of a high speed solar wind stream, with wind speeds increasing to about 500 km/s at the end of the period.
IIB. Geophysical Activity Forecast
The geomagnetic field is expected to be predominately unsettled with isolated active periods for days one thru three (28-30 June).
