Flaring activity has been calm with 1 C-flare on June 22. C-flaring activity is possible for the coming day. A new active region, 1778 rotated over the east limb. It is located in the southern hemisphere. The solar wind speed is still relatively high with 600 km/s. The total magnetic field imbedded in the solar wind increased slightly to around 8 nT this morning at 4UT. The z-component was negative - between 0 and -5nT from yesterday June 22 afternoon until June 23, 4UT. From that moment, it fluctuated between negative and positive values. These negative values induced active conditions today, June 23. These solar wind conditions are probably linked with the coronal hole in the northern hemisphere. A wide coronal mass ejection was detected by CACTus on June 22, 14:12UT. The CME had an angular width of 160 degrees. No solar event on the solar disk facing the Earth could be linked to this eruption. It was seen as a halo CME by STEREO A. We conclude that the CME is back-sided.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 086, based on 05 stations.
