Bulletin

Solar activity was very low. The Sun was spotless. No earth- directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.

Quiet flaring conditions are expected to continue.

Solar wind speed declined from its initial 480 km/s to nominal levels near 380 km/s by 03UT. It then gradually rebounded to values near 420 km/s by 08UT, ending the period near 380 km/s. Bz fluctuated between -3 nT and +2 nT, being steady at +1 nT from 08UT onwards. The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was variable. A narrow extension from the positive northern polar coronal hole (CH) has transited the central meridian (CM).

The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels. Mostly quiet to unsettled conditions are expected, until the arrival of the particle stream from the polar CH extension expected for 13-14 March, which may result in active episodes.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 24 stations.
