Bulletin

The only flare of the period was a B1.5 flare peaking at 7:37UT from a region turning onto the disk in the East. With no spotted regions on disk, X-ray flux is expected to remain below C level over the next days. SoHO/LASCO C2 images show a full halo CME from 4:36UT onwards. STEREO A EUVI 195 clearly shows the event from around 3:15UT originating from the backside (in relation to Earth) of the Sun. The CME will thus not influence Earth. Another CME with limited angular width of around 100 degrees directed towards the NorthWest was recorded slightly earlier from around 01:36UT onwards in SoHO/LASCO C2 images. This event is also judged to have originated from the backside of the Sun and hence will not influence Earth. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in coronagraph data. Solar proton fluxes are at background values and are expected to remain so.

Solar wind showed the continuing influence of the coronal hole high speed stream. Solar wind speed started and ended the reporting period around 550 km/s but reached 600 km/s during the period. Total magnetic field was around the 5-7nT range but increased towards to over 9nT by the end of the period. Bz was variable with peaks down to -7nT. Over the next 2 days we should see a return to nominal Solar wind conditions. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (local K Dourbes 1-3, NOAA Kp 2-3). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next days as high speed stream effects diminish.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
