The sunspot region (Catania sunspot group 50, NOAA-AR 2781) has grown. It also continued to show some flaring activities, including a C7.3-class flare peaking at 00:22 UTC on November 5. The flaring activity is expected to continue with more C-class flare coming from NOAA-AR 2781, with a small chance of M-class flare.
No coronal mass ejections were observed to be associated with the C7.3-class flare in the sunspot region (Catania sunspot group 50, NOAA-AR 2781). Also, no Earth directed coronal mass ejections were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electrons flux was below the 10^3 pfu threshold over the past 24 hours. It is expected to increase and cross 10^3 pfu threshold with the arrival of the enhancement of the solar wind parameters today and tomorrow.
The Earth was under the influence of the slow solar wind streams. The solar wind parameters (DSCOVR) showed nominal values with the solar wind speed below 350 km/s, the total interplanetary magnetic field below 5 nT, and the Bz magnetic field components fluctuating between -2.7 nT and 3 nT. The solar wind parameters may slightly be enhanced later on November 5 and 6 due to the influence of the solar wind coming from the south coronal hole that extends up to -30 degree latitude.
Geomagnetic conditions were quiet. Unsettled conditions are expected with the arrival of the enhanced solar wind conditions later today and tomorrow.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 025, based on 16 stations.
