Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2781 (Catania 50) was quiet and is about to rotate out of view near the southwest limb. NOAA 2782 (Catania 52) decayed. Old active region NOAA 2778 is rotating over the southeast limb but is currently spotless. Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels, with a small chance on an isolated C-class flare. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was well below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to remain so. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so.
Solar wind speed was stable and varying between 300 and 330 km/s (ACE and DSCOVR). Bz varied between -5 and +4 nT, being mostly negative between 15 and 01UTC, and mostly positive afterwards. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominantly directed towards the Sun (negative sector).
Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels andis expected to remain so, with a small chance on an isolated unsettled episode.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 007, based on 15 stations.
