Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain mainly at low levels, with a low chance of C class flares.

A narrow Coronal Mass Ejection was detected in Lasco images on Dec 27 00:48UT at the SW quadrant. It seems to be associated with a filament eruption on that region. More will be reported as more data become available.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained on high levels the past 24 hours, without crossing the threshold of 1000 pfu. It is expected to remain at those levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence remained enhanced in the past 24 hours, while slightly decreased compared to yesterday. It is expected to continue slowly decreasing in the next 24 hours.

Solar wind speed near Earth as registered by DSCOVR and ACE varied between 405 and 490 km/s in the past 24 hours. The orientation of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field switched from the positive (away from the Sun) to the negative sector about Dec 26 23:15UT. Its magnitude varied between about 2 and 7 nT while Bz varied between -5 and 4 nT. Solar wind conditions are anticipated to remain at about those levels for the next 24 hours.

Quiet geomagnetic conditions were registered in the past 24 hours, with values for K Dourbes varying between 0-2 and for NOAA Kp 1-2. Quiet geomagnetic conditions are to be expected in the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 026, based on 09 stations.
