Solar flaring activity is still low. The largest reported flare was C1.4 flare (peaked at 10:53 UT today) originating from the AR 2831 which is presently rotating across the West solar limb. We expect such a low level of flaring activity to continue in the coming hours. There were no Earth directed CMEs observed during last 24 hours and the proton flux levels remained at background values. The greater than 2MeV electron flux continues to be bellow the 1000 pfu threshold, and we expect it will remain so during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence is at normal levels and we expect it will stay so in the coming 24 hours.
The in situ observations indicate arrival of the solar wind originating from the negative polarity coronal hole (extension of the southern polar coronal hole), starting from the morning of June 07. The increase of the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude (up to about 11 nT) and solar wind density, observed at about 06:30 UT, was followed by the temperature and solar wind speed increase. Shortly after 01:00 UT this morning, the solar wind speed reached its local maximum of 550 km/s. The solar wind speed is presently about 480 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 4 nT.
The geomagnetic conditions were mostly quiet to unsettled during last 24 hours. The arrival of the fast solar wind induced active geomagnetic conditions yesterday evening and around midnight. Local station at Dourbes reported K-index= 4 and NOAA reported Kp=4. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet to unsettled and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.
