Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was low but frequent during the last 24 hours with only low C-class flares emitted. NOAA Active Region (AR) 3100 (Catania sunspot group 33) produced most of the activity, i.e. six out of the eight C-class flares, and is expected to remain the most active in the next 24 hours. The newly created NOAA AR 3101 might produce some activity if its rapid flux emergence continues in the next 24 hours.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections were observed in the last 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was above the 1000 pfu alert threshold yesterday, but so far today it is fluctuating around this value. The 24h electron fluence was at moderate levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain at these levels during the next 24 hours.

The Solar Wind (SW) conditions continued their very gradual return to a slow wind regime in the last 24 hours. The SW speed gradually dropped from 520 to 410 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed away from the Sun during the last 24 hours. Its strength fluctuated between 2 and 7 nT, while its north-south component ranged between -6 and 5 nT. The SW conditions are expected to continue their transition to the slow wind regime in the next 24 hours.

Geomagnetic conditions reached globally and locally unsettled levels (NOAA Kp and K-Belgium 1-3) over the last 24 hours. Unsettled conditions (NOAA Kp and K-Belgium 3) are expected to also occur in the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 126, based on 19 stations.
