Solar activity was quiet for the past 24 hours, with only a C1.0 flare from NOAA AR1692. Solar activity is expected to remain quiet with a slight chance for an isolated C-flare. On March 20 UT ACE measured a jump in the interplanetary magnetic field to 11 nT (starting at 12h UT) and in the solar wind speed to 732 km/s, probably due to the arrival of the CME of March 17. The solar wind speed and interplanetary magnetic field are now returning to stable values, with a current speed of 428 km/s and a magnetic field of 6 nT. Geomagnetic conditions in Dourbes reached active levels (K=4) from 0 to 6 UT this morning. Geomagnetic activity is expected to return to quiet levels and remain so for the next 48 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 032, based on 13 stations.
