Bulletin

A couple of C1 flares were observed during the past 24 hours. The source regions were NOAA active region 2335 and a region that is currently rounding the East limb (at N10). Several CMEs were observed in SOHO/LASCO C2 and C3 images. A partial halo, with first measurement in LASCO C2 at 20:36 UT on May 2, is propagating to the East with a projected speed of 350 km/s. A second CME, with first measurement at 00:48 UT on May 3, is travelling to the SW. A third CME is seen, with first measurement at 4:00 UT on May 3, that travels in the NE direction with a projected speed of 480 km/s. The first two CMEs are associated to backsided activity and the third CME is due to an eruption at the East limb (N10). None is expected to be geo-effective. A filament near S40E35 disappeared between 15 and 18 UT (on May 2), but no eruption or associated CME has been observed as most of the material was reabsorbed when propagating to the West on the solar disk. Flaring activity is expected to increase with multiple C-class flares. Earth is inside a slow solar wind with a solar wind speed around 400 km/s. The magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) remains below 10 nT and is even slightly decreasing. The geomagnetic conditions are quiet to unsettled (K=0 to 3 for local K at Dourbes and global estimated NOAA Kp) and are expected to continue.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 025, based on 05 stations.
