Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed over the last 24 hours. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
Earth remained under the influence of the High Speed Stream (HSS) associated with the positive polarity coronal hole (CH). Solar wind speed varied mostly between 550 and 610 km/s, showing a slight decline towards 500 km/s by the end of the period (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -7 and +8 nT before midnight, and between -4 and +2 nT afterwards. The interplanetary magnetic field was directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Geomagnetic activity ranged from quiet to active conditions.
Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected, with a waning chance on another active episode during the next 24 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 11 stations.
