Bulletin

No active regions visible on the Sun. No flares observed, nor expected.

No Earth directed CMEs in past 24 h. Solar protons have remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is at 650 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field magnitude of 5 nT. The Earth is inside the high speed stream from a positive polarity coronal hole with speeds up to 660 km/s and interplanetary magnetic fields up to 13 nT (with Bz going to -11 nT). As a consequence, geomagnetic conditions have reached active levels (k = 4) locally at Dourbes from 20:00 UT to 23:00 UT on July 9, at 06:00 UT and from 08:00 UT to 10:00 UT on July 10; and at planetary levels Kp reached 5 for 3-hour periods starting at 18:00 UT on July 9 and at 06:00 UT on July 10. More active conditions (with isolated minor storm periods) can be expected in the next 48 h.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 21 stations.
