Solar activity was at very low levels, no significant flares have been recorded. The Sun remained spotless. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed in the available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
The solar wind speed gradually decreased from approximately 400 km/s to 350 km/s (ACE). The interplanetary magnetic field was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Bz was mostly negative with values recorded between -5 and +2 nT. Geomagnetic activity was quiet to unsettled, with the Kp index (NOAA) and the local k index (Dourbes) recording values between 0-1 and 0-3, respectively.
Quiet conditions are expected to continue over the next 48 hours with possible isolated unsettled periods, due to the weak influence a negative polarity coronal hole.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 14 stations.
