Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels. Catania group 45 (NOAA AR 2776 - alpha classification - SE) is very gradually decaying. Plage on NW is yet to form as region.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at background to nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so over the next 24 hours.

The speed of the solar wind varied between 320 and 415 km/s (DSCOVR). The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly towards the Sun (phi angle in the negative sector). Bz fluctuated between -6 and +7 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 1 and 9 nT. A small positive polarity Coronal Hole (CH) is crossing Central Meridian (CM). Over the next 24 hours, the solar wind parameters are expected to increase, due to possible impacts of hish speed stream from the CHs that crossed CM on Oct 17-19.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. The values registered for the past 24 hours were 1-3 for K Dourbes and NOAA Kp. Quiet to unsettled conditions, with a possible active period, are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 010, based on 18 stations.
